Preparing for the Written portion of the CNA Test
Preparing for the Written portion of the CNA Test
Core curriculum in approved nursing assistant-certified training programs.
In an earlier blog post we covered what to expect from the practical portion, the skills test, that is required for your Nursing Assistant Certification. There is also a written portion of the test. While these tests are not standardized, there is not a federal agency that develops and proctors the tests, there are state requirements that dictate what the tests should cover, and because the responsibilities of CNAs vary only minimally between states, studying for one is studying for all of them.
Like the last test help blog, I won’t spend much time covering what’s on the test, rather I’ll give you a collection of tools from credible online nursing services that can help you study. There are a host of great resources online. Here are three practice tests that can help you know what to expect and see how on track you are:
- CNA practice test on cna.plus
- CNA practice test on test-guide.com
- CNA test prep on uniontestprep.com
Also like the skills portion of the test, there are lots of resources on youtube with what to expect. I found this large collection of videos, that although made using a computer reader, seem to have accurate questions and answers.
The written portion of the test shouldn’t scare you. It’s far less hands on than the skills portion, and if you attend all your required classes from your certification class, and study a little on your own time, you are sure to pass without a problem.
Good luck! And if you haven’t scheduled an exam time yet, think about using Northwest Nursing Assistant Certified Training. Our class schedule can be found here.
